Job description
Join a dedicated team at Rebecca School, where we passionately support students aged 3 to 21 with neurodevelopmental delays through the innovative DIRFloortime model. As a Special Needs Teacher, you will be at the forefront of designing and delivering tailored, individualized educational experiences that adhere to the DIRFloortime model. You'll play a key role in helping students with neurodevelopmental and related disorders enhance their communication, social, and emotional abilities. Collaborating closely with therapists, families, and fellow educators, you will create a nurturing and joyful learning atmosphere that fosters success for every student.
Qualifications Needed
• Bachelor's degree in education or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
• New York State certification in Special Education (or eligibility).
• Experience engaging with students with autism spectrum disorder or developmental differences.
• Exceptional collaboration, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• A strong commitment to the DIRFloortime approach and relationship-based teaching.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement individualized instructional strategies tailored to each student's unique strengths and challenges.
• Integrate social-emotional and sensory regulation objectives into daily classroom activities.
• Work alongside therapists, paraprofessionals, and families to promote consistent support across all environments.
• Collect and analyze student performance data to guide instructional planning and goal-setting.
• Create an inviting and secure classroom environment that encourages communication, exploration, and independence.
