We are a leading Accounting and Tax Software as a Service (SaaS) company dedicated to simplifying financial and tax processes for small businesses operating out of New Zealand. Our innovative platform offers comprehensive solutions for accounting, tax, and financial management/reporting. Due to high growth, we are seeking diligent and experienced bookkeepers to join our team and contribute to our mission of making small business accounting and tax accessible and efficient. The platform automates tax compliance and calculation, but onboarding customers requires upfront manual intervention as other accounting systems are not able to produce data that is reliable enough for our automated tax calculations.
Job Description:
Bookkeepers play a crucial role in working with Afirmo customer financial records, including transactions, payroll, accounts payable, and receivable. This position requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of accounting principles in New Zealand. Some Afirmo customers also require help with data entry and categorisation so this job can also support customers after they have been onboarded.
Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate financial records and statements in accordance with New Zealand GAAP for new customers to upload into the Afirmo platform.
Maintain accurate financial records for customers looking for bookkeeping support.
Process accounts payable and receivable and bank reconciliation data.
Manage payroll processing, including computation, disbursement, and reporting.
Prepare and file tax documents, working closely with the tax department to ensure compliance.
Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports.
Collaborate with Afirmo management to improve financial procedures and systems.
Liaise with Afirmo customers to ensure accounts data is correct and they can upskill to provide self-empowerment where sought.
Stay updated on industry trends and changes in tax and accounting regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field or qualified through experience for more mature candidates.
Proven experience as a bookkeeper or similar role, with direct experience in working with Xero, MYOB and other cloud-based accounting packages.
Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
Payroll experience preferably with PayHero.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial regulations.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
