About the Role
The Programming/Activity Assistant is responsible for organizing and implementing programs that cater to the individual needs of our residents. These programs aim to fulfill basic psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs, promoting self-esteem in a caring environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and implement one-on-one, small group, and large group activities according to the programming schedule.
Assist in developing and implementing an innovative seven-day activity program that engages residents.
Support residents by understanding their background, participation needs, physical abilities, interests, cognitive capacity, and attention span capability.
Encourage and motivate residents to attend and participate in programming and activities.
Communicate any changes in resident condition or behavior patterns to the Harbor Care Director.
Drive community van and accompany groups on excursions.
Requirements
A high school diploma, bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues.
Qualification to develop programs for elders and disabled individuals through experience and training.
Training and knowledge in recreational activities.
Training and knowledge of Alzheimer's and related dementias.
Maintain confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community.
Demonstrate coordination skills, a positive attitude, and ability to work under pressure.
