Role and Facility Information
Come work as a Craniofacial Surgeon with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!
The Division of Plastic Surgery in conjunction with Vancouver Coastal Health and Providence Health in Vancouver is accepting applications for a full-time permanent position with a focus on adult craniofacial trauma and reconstruction.
Applicants must have subspecialty fellowship training in a Plastic Surgery subspecialty with emphasis on adult craniofacial surgery. Experience and training in head and neck reconstruction including microsurgery would be an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to cover full time general plastic surgery call within the division and be comfortable with tertiary level plastic surgery trauma and reconstruction. The hospital services, together with the University of British Columbia Division of Plastic Surgery and the University of British Columbia Department of Surgery are involved in undergraduate, post-graduate and continuing medical education programs.
Available resources include access to the main Operating Room, Minor Treatment Room, and a hospital-based clinic.
Applicants must be certified in Plastic Surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Canada), and be eligible for licensure by the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons.
The successful applicant must qualify for and will be recommended for a Clinical Faculty Position in the University of British Columbia, Department of Surgery. They will be expected to be involved in clinical teaching at all levels and research.
Qualifications
Education, Licensing, & Experience:
• Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) - Eligible
• Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
• Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) - Mandatory
• Surgical Skills - Mandatory

The Role
The Senior Patient Coordinator oversees the patient experience, and serves patients by being their first and last point of contact. This is an integral role that works with all members of the healthcare team in a coordinated and collaborative effort to engage, encourage, and support patient health.
Team Approach
• Work with a passionate, like-minded team of Medical Administration professionals in a supportive and inspired environment
• Work collaboratively a multidisciplinary health care team including specialists, registered dietitians, nurse practitioners, clinical counsellors and more
Patient Experience
• Create a warm and welcoming environment for patients
• Complete a wide range of administrative tasks utilizing your excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills all with a priority placed on exceptional patient experience, such as: booking and rescheduling appointments, answering calls and patient inquiries, communicating with referring physician offices
• Coordinate patient flow in the clinic between reception, examination, and treatment areas ensuring a comfortable visit
• Educate patients and their caregivers on what to expect from the appointment and how to prepare for their visit
• Assist patients with hands on diagnostics such as taking blood pressure readings, application of ECG or Holter monitor components, or conducting body composition analysis, as required, all while helping to put them at ease

Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Medical Office Administrator or equivalent role in a family practice
• Preference will be given to candidates who have completed Medical Office Assistant certificate
• Knowledge of EMR systems, preferably TELUS CHR (Input Health)
• Excellent organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and prioritize workflow
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both in person and over the phone
• Ability to address patient concerns and challenges with compassion and resilience
• Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and discretion
