Duties and Responsibilities:
Safely operate all types of paving and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
Performs daily preventative maintenance inspections and safety checks to proactively identify any potential mechanical issues and advises the Foreman.
Behave in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves, their co-workers, and others on the work sites.
Attends and participates in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled.
Reports unsafe work, unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries, and near misses to the supervisor and participates in the investigative process.
Comply with established company policies and procedures and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Assists other employees when required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years experience
Experience in paving commercial and city streets.
Active Standard First Aid Certification.
Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certification.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Must be available to work long hours including evenings and weekends during the work season April to December.
Must be able to work in extreme heat up to and exceeding 64 Celsius.
Must have CSA approved safety boots.
Able to sit for a long periods and look over shoulder.
Able to climb up and down from equipment.
