Job Summary:
The PD Merchandiser (Garments) is responsible for managing and coordinating the development of garment samples from concept to pre-production. This role requires close collaboration with design teams, buyers, suppliers, and internal production units to ensure that samples are developed according to specifications, timelines, and cost targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate with design and buying teams to understand seasonal product requirements and trends.
Develop product ranges based on buyer's tech packs, mood boards, and market feedback.
Source and develop fabrics, trims, and accessories in line with product needs.
Follow up with vendors and suppliers for timely submission of samples (proto, fit, size set, PP).
Ensure all samples meet the required specifications in terms of design, quality, fit, and measurements.
Maintain T&A (Time & Action) calendar and ensure strict adherence to development timelines.
Negotiate sample and bulk prices with vendors and monitor product costing to stay within target margins.
Conduct risk assessments on new styles and provide feasible solutions to buyers and production teams.
Coordinate with the QA/QC and technical teams for sample evaluation and feedback implementation.
Maintain records of sample approvals, rejections, buyer comments, and revisions.
Liaise with production teams to ensure smooth handover from development to bulk.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree/diploma in Fashion Technology, Apparel Merchandising, or related field.
2–5 years of experience in product development merchandising (garment industry).
Experience working with export houses.
