Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the People and Culture Advisor will serve as the primary point of contact for all People and Culture matters, providing timely and pragmatic support to Sydney and Melbourne staff across the entire employment lifecycle. This role requires ensuring compliance with legislative and best practice standards while contributing to the achievement of the organisation’s operational and strategic objectives. As part of a commitment to continuous improvement, the responsibilities of this role may evolve to address the changing needs of our students, regulatory obligations, and institutional goals.
Your main duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supporting executive, management and employees in the interpretation and adherence to the appropriate awards and industrial instruments
Providing support and advice across the employee lifecycle – employee relations, Industrial relations, recruitment, payroll, work health & safety, administration and compliance
Advising on and manage employee leave entitlements, ensuring best practice and compliance with Fair Work Guidelines
Executing general P&C administrative duties such as managing the HRIS, setting/deactivating employees, maintaining records and documentation, etc.
Assisting with payroll processes, including the use of the Xero payroll platform (or other relevant system), ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations and policies
Guiding and coaching managers to take ownership of people matters with consideration of best practice, legal obligations and ethical standards
Providing options/strategies in the resolution of workplace issues & grievances
Contributing to the development and implementation of a variety of People and Culture projects and initiatives
Assisting management in effectively managing the performance and development needs of AIM’s workforce

About You
You are a passionate People and Culture Advisor with the ability to build positive relationships grounded in trust and integrity. You provide effective and clear communication to all levels of the business.
Being proactive and showing initiative will be key to your success.
Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or related field
Ideally 2-3 years’ experience in a HR generalist role (e.g. HR Officer, Coordinator or Advisor)
Strong relationship building skills and an ability to quickly form rapport with a variety of stakeholders – the P&C team liaise with many levels within the business including Board of Directors, Leadership Team, Managers and front-line employees.
Knowledge of the application of HR policies and procedures, and legislative requirements
Understanding of Fair Work legislation and Modern Awards – we are respondent to the Educational Services (Post-Secondary Education) Award 2020.
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong prioritisation and time management skills
Attention to detail and highly organised
Can work both under direction and autonomously
Previous exposure to human resources systems or payroll welcome, but not essential
