About the opportunity

The People and Wellbeing Officer operates within assigned client groups and serves as a trusted advisor to the University’s people managers. In this capacity, they are responsible for understanding their stakeholders and supporting solutions that blend institutional realities with people orientation. The People and Wellbeing Officer will work to shape a people centered culture, deliver impactful people initiatives, and provide practical advice to enhance operational effectiveness.

We are excited to be recruiting for a People and Wellbeing Officer position in our team supporting Arts and Society.

What you'll do:

Contribute to a productive partnership between People and Wellbeing and the relevant client group.
Participate in the identification, development, implementation and embedding of People related programs and initiatives that support the University’s strategic direction, particularly the strategic direction of the relevant client group and the University People Strategy.
Coach People Managers to ensure management practices and processes support staff and drive a culture of engagement, accountability, excellence, and high performance.
Participate in a range of strategic and operational initiatives including, change programs, development programs, and culture and engagement initiatives.
Provide timely and professional HR advice, guidance and solutions to people managers on a wide range of operational and procedural employment related issues including recruitment and progression.
Monitor, action and approve a range of system generated matters and enquiries.
Enable managers and employees to effectively utilise HR systems and processes.
What we're looking for:

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate:

Proven HR experience in and a passion for delivering people solutions or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
An understanding of, and the ability to translate, the relevant employment frameworks, policies, procedures, systems.
Ability to coach people managers for career development, expectation setting and resetting, performance improvement and managing conflict.
Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively liaise with and influence all levels of stakeholders.
Ability to see through the eyes of a people manager and understand their perspective to ensure appropriate advice and counsel is provided.
The ability to prioritise and manage a diverse workload.
Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 5 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $105,665 comprising base salary within the range of $80,869 to $90,312 plus 17% superannuation.
