We are seeking a positive, warm, and supportive educator who relates sensitively to children and can assist in fostering and modelling positive life skills within our preschool community.
Position Details
Role: Preschool Assistant Educator (Maternity Leave Cover)
Employment Type: Part-Time (5 days per fortnight)
Work Schedule:
Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Week 2: Thursday & Friday
Location: Byron Bay, NSW
Start Date: 20 July 2026
Contract Duration: 12 months
About the Role
As the Assistant Educator, you will support the Room Leader in creating a calm, nurturing environment for a small group of children. You will assist in guiding the daily rhythm through storytelling, creative play, songs, and seasonal activities.
This role involves working closely with the Room Leader, colleagues, and families to foster a strong sense of belonging and connection within the preschool community.
Key Responsibilities
Support the delivery of a Steiner-based program
Assist in creating a peaceful, homelike environment
Help maintain a consistent daily and seasonal rhythm
Work collaboratively with the Room Leader and team
Build respectful relationships with children and families
Assist with documentation in line with regulations
Essential Requirements
Certificate III, Diploma, or working towards a qualification in Early Childhood Education
Experience working in early childhood settings
Genuine interest in, or openness to learning about, Steiner pedagogy
A passion for supporting the holistic development of children
Ability to work collaboratively within a small team
Strong communication skills
Understanding of the EYLF & NQS
Current Working with Children Check
Current child Protection Certificate
Current First Aid Certificate
Desirable
Experience or interest in Steiner education
Interest in storytelling, music, handcrafts, and seasonal festivals
Appreciation for community-based education
Food Handling Certificate
