Position Summary
Within the context of a patient and family-centered model of care, and in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values and strategic directions of Providence Health Care (“Providence”), the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) is seeking Primary Care Physicians with an interest in optimizing subacute medical care during inpatient rehabilitation. Each of our 10 teams (serving 6–10 patients) includes a Most Responsible Physician (MRP), a physiatrist, and a full complement of allied health and nursing professionals.
Holy Family Hospital’s 65-bed specialized inpatient rehabilitation unit serves older adults recovering from neurological events (primarily stroke), orthopedic surgeries, amputations, and other medical conditions. With an average patient age of 75, over 80% of our patients improve sufficiently to be discharged home—making this work both meaningful and rewarding.
Clinical Responsibilities include:
Rounding twice weekly on assigned patients
Participation in multidisciplinary team rounds
Ward coverage for medical issues across teams
On-call coverage averaging 1 in 8 weeks
Our updated compensation model integrates Fee-for-Service (FFS), sessional payments, and MOCAP funding, designed to offer competitive remuneration.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be certified for licensure by the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons.
The successful candidate will also exemplify Providence’s values and contribute to a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion. In addition, Providence is committed to our responsibilities on Truth and Reconciliation. We hold ourselves accountable for making our care, facilities and services a safer experience for Indigenous patients, residents, families, staff and Medical Staff.
Why PHC
Providence is a non-profit Catholic organization that provides services in partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health and the Provincial Health Services Authority. At Providence we embrace compassionate care, social justice, and innovation while delivering medical services to vulnerable populations across Vancouver and its neighbouring communities. Providence is committed to building a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion where the staff and Medical Staff – both current and prospective – feel welcomed, valued, and supported to thrive in their work. As we look towards the future, we are led by four strategic pillars: quality-forward, people-forward, learning-forward, and partnerships-forward. We invite you to join us as we work towards building the future of healthcare in British Columbia.
How to Apply
To build a strong and representative workforce, we encourage physicians from all backgrounds to apply. We are deeply committed to diversity within our community, and welcome applications from Indigenous persons, people of colour, persons with disabilities, persons of any ****** orientation or gender identity, and others who may contribute to the further diversification and inclusion of ideas, practices, and ways of knowing that can improve our care and services.
