Position Summary
The Plant Accountant is responsible for managing financial transactions, cost accounting, and financial reporting within the plant. This role ensures accurate financial records, supports budgeting and forecasting, and provides financial analysis to drive operational efficiency and cost control. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing accounting, cost accounting principles, and financial compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare monthly financial reports, including variance analysis, cost reports, and profitability analysis.
Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
Monitor and analyze plant expenses, identifying trends and cost-saving opportunities.
Cost Accounting:
Maintain and analyze standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
Perform cost roll-ups and ensure accurate product costing.
Review and analyze inventory valuation and reconciliations.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Support the annual budget preparation process, including cost projections and financial planning.
Assist with periodic financial forecasts and operational performance analysis.
Inventory & Asset Management:
Perform cycle counts and physical inventory reconciliations.
Analyze and report inventory variances, ensuring proper valuation.
Maintain fixed asset records and ensure compliance with depreciation policies.
Compliance & Controls:
Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting regulations.
Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
Assist in implementing process improvements to enhance financial efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting.
Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
