Job DescriptionClient is looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) contractor for staff augmentation purposes to help manage the PostgreSQL environment.The position will be responsible for on-going administration of existing environments including defining, planning, implementing, and supporting client’s physical Marklogic databases for the enterprise.Candidate should possess extensive knowledge of all aspects of PostgreSQL including monitoring and performance tuning.50% onsite is required.ResponsibilitiesStrong proficiency in PostgreSQL database administration and management. You will be required to develop SQL Queries as required by Business DivisionsDevelop Stored ProceduresLoad Balancing and High AvailabilityEnsure System Optimization, by improving and restructuring the databases.Perform database Updates and MigrationsSynchronize multiple Database’s in various branches.Thorough understanding of database design, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.Generate Comprehensive DocumentationSupport database issues arising from Customer QueriesProficient in troubleshooting & solving complex performance problems.Proficient in PostgreSQL Database Patching, Upgrades & Migrations.Proficient in monitoring & performance analysisExperience working with or in an automated operation environment.Experience managing operations on core & cloud-based infra environments.Investigate and troubleshoot database-related issues, including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and data inconsistencies.Provide timely resolution and root cause analysis for incidents.Willingness for 24/7 shift support and on call supportKey skills:Significant background in creating complex stored procedures and SQL scripts in PostgreSQL.Understanding of database normalization conceptsA minimum of 7+ years database administration experienceProven SQL and PostgreSQL experienceExperience in designing and automating repetitive processes.Familiarity with other SQL/NoSQL databases such as MySQL etc.Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL).Good Hands-on scripting languageExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsEffective communication and collaboration abilities.Experience working with or in an automated operations environment (e.g. Ansible)
