We are seeking an enthusiastic Primary or ASN specialist teacher who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the education and lives of young people. This post is available for an immediate start.
Ardfern School offers a deliberately alternative learning environment designed to provide high quality education for pupils who have found mainstream settings challenging. With small class sizes and strong access to resources, successful candidates will be supported to lead their own subject areas and contribute to cross curricular learning throughout the year. Our central location within the community also provides rich opportunities for public and outdoor learning.
We look forward to meeting energetic, committed teachers who are eager to engage diverse group of learners who may struggle in conventional settings. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to high quality service delivery and continuous improvement, always keeping the needs of our young people at the heart of their practice.
This role also offers excellent opportunities to work collaboratively with parents, carers, and a range of professionals involved in supporting our pupils. Applicants for teaching positions must be GTCS registered. All successful candidates must also be willing to undertake Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training, which will be provided by the organisation.
All posts involve regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or complete a PVG Scheme update check.
All posts require a minimum of two references, including one from your current or most recent employer. Salary will be in line with EIS Main Grade Scale.

Many of our pupils have Additional Support Needs (ASN), which we support in a nurturing, well-resourced environment that focuses on individual needs. We offer children a varied educationa lprogramme based on the experiences and outcomes set out within Curriculum for Excellence.
Ardfern offer both primary and secondary placements based on the 3-18 national curriculum guidelines. The focus on interdisciplinary learning at Ardfern allows pupils to experience a broad education in line with the Four Capacities of Curriculum for Excellence (Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Responsible Citizens, and Effective Contributors), as set out by Education Scotland.
Ardfern also understands that pastoral support is as important as educational support,which is the reason all children are assigned a key teacher, who is in regular contact with pupils parents and carers, as well as other professionals involved in the young person’s life.
Ardfern offers a number of SQA accredited courses ranging from National 2 to National 5 and Higher. Curriculum areas include English, Mathematics, Social Subjects, Technologies and Health & Wellbeing.
