Position Overview

Sapphire Coast Anglican College is a PK-12, independent, Anglican college and is a Christ-centred, student-focused and community-minded school that develops extraordinary learners with a passion to serve others. Established in 1++4, the College is located on the Far South Coast of NSW in the heart of the Bega Valley with an enrolment of approximately 430 students, K-12 and approximately 35 in Pre-Kindergarten. The college prides itself on its strong sense of community and pastoral care of students, their families and staff.

The College is seeking a dynamic and visionary K – 6 teacher for our Primary School. The College teaches a broad curriculum, requiring a range of skills and knowledge of different pedagogical approaches to meet the needs of all our students. The successful candidate will use ICT as an integral component of their teaching and learning and will be committed to on-going professional development, involving themselves in the whole life of the school whilst demonstrating commitment to our College ethos.

Role Responsibilities

Team Member

As a member of a smaller team of teachers as well as the larger staff, the teacher is responsible:

To ensure they work cohesively and collaboratively with students, parents, and colleagues to enhance the educational experience

To be subject to direction from the Head of Primary School and Executive in line with the organisational structure and vision of the school



Culture of Learning

In order to develop a positive culture of learning, teachers should:

Provide an effective and engaging learning environment that fosters student achievement

Promote collaborative relationships between teachers, students and parents

Actively differentiate the curriculum and make adjustments that support all learners

Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs



Curriculum

Regarding the teaching and learning that occurs within the Primary School, teachers should:

Ensure that all Scope and Sequences, Programs and Assessments are engaging and meet the individual needs of the students and the requirements of NESA and the College

Demonstrate proficiency in classroom management and differentiated lesson delivery

Have an excellent knowledge of relevant syllabus materials and reference these when programming, evaluating and assessing

Be aware of, and comply with all NESA requirements as well as the requirements of the College

Implement effective practices to assess and monitor student academic progress

Show commitment to continuous professional development growth through participation in professional learning, further study or professional reading



Student Wellbeing

In working with students in and out of the classroom, teachers need to:

Create a supportive and inclusive classroom showing genuine care and interest in the wellbeing of their students

Ensure that the classroom is clean, orderly and safe

Implement the College’s behaviour management policy

Report any concerns regarding the wellbeing of students to the Head of Primary School, Director of Wellbeing or School Counsellor (if appropriate).



Other

Teachers need to:

Ensure they meet the staff dress code

Ensure they leave appropriate work for students when absent from work

Meet deadlines that are set

Make sure they are able to complete all the work expected of them

Adhere at all times to the College’s code of conduct



Additional Requirements

 Willingness and enthusiasm to participate in co-curricular activities, camps and excursions;

Perform other duties as required by the Principal / Deputy Principal
