Job Description
The Head of School appoints the Primary Teacher–Librarian with input from the Governing Board.
The Teacher–Librarian is responsible for promoting a culture of reading, inquiry, and academic integrity throughout the Primary Years Programme (PYP). In addition to managing and developing the school library’s resources, the Teacher–Librarian supports students and teachers in using information, media, and technology effectively within the IB framework.
All teachers employed by the school have professional responsibilities to their students, to themselves, to the institution, to their colleagues, and to the wider school community. Each teacher must ensure that all students are safe, secure, and properly supervised at all times.
EXPECTATIONS
As an educational professional working in a K–12 international school, it is expected that a teacher will:

● be familiar with the operational practices, curriculum framework, and expectations of the school;
● keep abreast of relevant educational developments, research, and library practices;
● adhere to school policies and guidelines published in the Faculty Handbook, contract, and other official documents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the Primary Teacher–Librarian include:
● promoting a love of reading, inquiry, and lifelong learning among students and staff;
● developing students’ information, media, and digital literacy skills aligned with IB PYP Approaches to Learning (ATL);
● collaborating with teachers to integrate library and research skills into the transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry (UOIs);
● developing the content of lessons and library programs in relation to the school’s philosophy, objectives, and IB-recognized curriculum framework;
● curating, organizing, and maintaining a diverse collection of print and digital resources to support teaching and learning;
● ensuring that the library space is safe, inclusive, and conducive to inquiry, collaboration, and creativity;
● supporting literacy through book fairs, author visits, reading programs, and storytelling sessions;
● guiding students in ethical use of information, proper citation, and responsible digital citizenship;
● integrating technology and digital tools into teaching and learning practices;
● ensuring the safety and well-being of all students within the library and during instructional time;
● actively contributing to the creation, development, and revision of the school’s written, taught, and assessed curriculum;
● attending school as required by contract and being punctual to classes, meetings, and duties;
● meeting internal and external deadlines promptly and maintaining professional standards at all times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
