The role
As the Principal Policy and Programs Officer you will lead the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of a diverse portfolio of programs and policies that enable councils to meet their legislative and organisational responsibilities. This is a senior hands-on role, responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating programs that align with government objectives and legal requirements.
You’ll juggle multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment, where priorities shift and deadlines compete. Building strong relationships - especially with stakeholders who may have different views - is key. You’ll also need to stay sharp on local government trends to keep programs relevant and effective, while navigating evolving legislative frameworks and community expectations.
