Job Description
A warm and busy family seeking a kind, reliable, and proactive part-time evening nanny to help care for our infant OR toddler (would not have to be both at the same time) during the evening rush. With two working parents and little ones who are sweet but understandably hungry, tired, and full of energy after daycare, parents are hoping to find someone who can provide calm, consistent support and help them end their days with a little more peace while keeping them on their evening and bedtime schedules.
Schedule
4 weeknights per week, ideally 4:15 PM – 9:30 PM
Specific days can be flexible and mutually agreed upon weekly • Occasional variations and extended hours) if one or both parents are working late or need rest weekdays and weekends Location
Home in Fairfax, VA Hourly Rate
$25/hour Key Responsibilities Evening Care (4:15 PM – 9:30 PM)
Help with meal prep before they reach and feeding them dinner when they arrive or by 6:30 PM
Supervise and engage the children during mealtime and evening routine
Bath time assistance, as needed
Playtime, reading, and helping wind down for bedtime by 8:30 PM (our toddler may still be awake near the end of shift) Light Housekeeping (as related to the children)
Dishes and cleanup after meals
Tidy and maintain safety in child-related areas (bedrooms, bathrooms, playrooms, walkways/stairs)
Laundry (children’s clothing and linens)
Clean and put away children’s dishware/utensils/lunch boxes and cups
General next-day prep during downtime (e.g., chopping veggies or packing lunch items) What We’re Looking For
Experience with toddlers and infants
Calm, reliable, and proactive presence
Comfortable juggling dinner, play, bath, and bedtime routines
Willingness to help us stay ahead on light chores that keep our evenings running smoothly.
Family would like an affectionate and loving person who has experience with toddlers and infants, is fully vaccinated, wears a mask (on an as needed basis), has short baby-friendly nails, and can wash their hands before they start work every shift. Requirements
Previous experience in babysitting or nannying is preferred.
Strong knowledge of toddler and baby care practices and child development principles.
Certification in First Aid and CPR is a plus.
Ability to prepare healthy meals suitable for young children.
Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
Patience, reliability, and a genuine love for working with children.
Must be able to pass background checks related to childcare.
