What you’ll do:
This role sits at the heart of Genesis’ generation operations and plays a key part in how critical safety risks are managed across our generation portfolio. As a Process Safety Engineer, you’ll bring practical process safety expertise into the business, helping ensure risks are properly understood, owned, and controlled.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager - Technical Support, you’ll work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams across sites and projects. You’ll be involved early in FEED and major plant upgrades, while also staying connected to day-to-day operational risk to ensure controls remain effective in practice.
You’ll work alongside risk owners to identify credible failure modes, review the strength of existing controls, and close gaps where needed. This includes leading and supporting risk assessments, Bowtie and QRA work, control assurance activities, and contributing to how Genesis manages major hazards across people, plant, systems, and processes.
What you’ll need:
You’re an experienced engineer who is comfortable working in operational environments and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. You take a structured, practical approach to risk and are confident providing advice and challenge when it comes to safety-critical decisions.
A degree in Process Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
5+ years’ experience in an engineering environment (process, mechanical, or electrical)
Strong working knowledge of process safety and risk management tools, including Bowties and QRA
Proven experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis (ICAM or equivalent)
Experience working in regulated environments and engaging with regulators such as WorkSafe.
