Product Manager (Career Guidance)
Position Summary:
At Avanti Fellows we aim to equip our students with all the skills needed to have a stable professional career. Most of our students are from rural backgrounds, where lack of awareness and motivation towards building a career are among the root causes of a small fraction of such students having enough resources to drive their families out of poverty.
This needs us to set up a Career Guidance Course which addresses these gaps through a carefully designed curriculum which helps students be aware of all suitable career pathways, and have the skills to make the right decisions when moving from school to college and from college to work.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The Product Manager role owns the development, testing, delivery and monitoring of the Career
Guidance Course modules. This entails:
● Research
Develop a database of colleges, courses and seats in India which are accessible to students in Avanti’s programs
Expand above to include expected professional outcomes - compensation, skills and growth trajectory
Develop the pathways relevant for our students to achieve said professional outcomes - guidance packs of non-academic courses, skills, information and exposure
Research on skills and information needed by our students to enable them to not just make the right career decisions but also participate in the application and counseling processes of various colleges and courses and tackle other constraints that are faced by
Avanti students
● Development
Create sessions, information packs and other resource materials needed to achieve project goal
Make above resources readily available to students through website, portals and other shareable methods
Rank various career pathways and link to student academic performance to build a predictor tool for direct use by students
● Delivery & Training
Conduction of sessions for piloting & scaling up the Career Guidance Course for students enrolled in Avanti programs

Training of Avanti team members on the modules for conduction and faster dissemination to students
● Monitoring & Data Analysis
Define metrics that measure the participation and effectiveness of the course materials
Conduct analysis and develop insights that
● Collaboration within Avanti
○ Work with Operations vertical on piloting and testing, coverage planning and scaling up any new Curriculum that is created
○ Work with Tech vertical to build the tools that make the Course accessible to the students in the relevant manner
○ Work with the MEL vertical to report progress on metrics
● Collaboration outside Avanti
○ Approach organizations that are working on similar problem statements and conduct knowledge sharing workshops and discussions
Approach relevant Government bodies and officials for relevant information
○ Publish the Career Guidance Module as a publicly available resource○
Benchmark against existing courses and modules from other organizationsRequirements:
● Education: Bachelor's or Masters degree
● Experience: At least 5 years of experience in the Education Industry in relevant roles
Behavioral Competencies:-
● Accuracy and attention to detail
● Ability to think analytically and solve problems
● Adaptability and flexibility
● Ability to work within a team and individually
● Excellent communication skills
● Ability to produce high-quality work to tight deadline
Salary Details: depending on candidate experience
Location:
● Anywhere in India (work from home)
● Should be available during official working hours 10am - 6pm 5 days a week
● Should be available for travel to work locations across the country as per need

About Avanti Fellows:
Avanti runs one of India’s largest system-wide interventions for Math and Science learning in government schools. Avanti uses the power of blended-learning, technology, and peer-instruction to create programs that are able to deliver consistent outcomes in low-resource settings.
Avanti’s JNV Program: This program supports students at the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Schools
(JNVs) to prepare for high-stakes college entrance exams. Avanti sets up after-school programs in collaboration with school teachers that focus on additional test-prep for college entrance exams.
Students going through the Avanti JNV program are twice as likely to be able to secure a position in professional colleges. In 2020, 60% of Avanti’s students qualified the national engineering exam (JEE
Main), compared to a national average of 34%.
Avanti’s Sankalp Program: Over the past 2 years, Avanti has been running a large system change project in Haryana. The project covers 160 intervention schools, where teachers were provided with technology and content to teach Mathematics and Science in Grade +-12. In addition, Avanti monitors progress through a team of program managers and through the assistance of government officials.
Avanti’s Ghar Pe School Program: Last year, in the wake of COVID-1+, Avanti coordinated a multi-state at-home learning intervention for government school students called GharPeSchool. In this program, Avanti prepared daily Math and Science lessons that were shared with teachers through the state’s education dept’s channel. This year, Avanti will continue this project in Haryana with an additional component of live classes and also expand this work to support secondary schools in the state of Delhi.
