.Job Description – Production Supervisor / Shift In-Charge
Department: Production
Location: Taloja
Reporting To: Production Manager / Plant Head
Shift: Rotational / General Shift
Position Summary
The Production Supervisor / Shift In-Charge is responsible for executing daily production plans, ensuring safe, efficient, and quality manufacturing operations, monitoring WIP, coordinating with PPC, QA/QC, Maintenance, Stores, and achieving production targets as per schedule.
Key Responsibilities1. Production Operations
Execute daily and shift-wise production activities as per approved production plan.
Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials.
Monitor batch operations / continuous processes as per SOPs and BMRs.
Ensure line clearance, start-up, changeover, and shutdown activities.
Maintain discipline and smooth workflow on the shop floor.
2. PPC & Production Planning Coordination
Coordinate with PPC/Planning team for daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
Communicate material availability, capacity constraints, and execution status.
Ensure production is aligned with dispatch priorities and customer commitments.
Update plan vs actual production and highlight deviations.
3. WIP (Work in Progress) Control
Monitor WIP levels at each production stage.
Ensure timely movement of material between stages.
Minimize excess WIP, rework, and bottlenecks.
Maintain accurate WIP records and batch traceability.
4. Quality & Compliance
Ensure production activities comply with quality standards, SOPs, GMP (if applicable).
Coordinate with QA/QC for in-process checks and sample approvals.
Ensure proper documentation of BMRs, logbooks, and production records.
Implement corrective actions for deviations and non-conformances.
5. Safety, Health & Environment (EHS)
Enforce safety rules, PPE usage, and safe operating procedures.
Ensure compliance with EHS guidelines and statutory norms.
Conduct shift-wise toolbox talks and safety briefings.
Report and investigate near misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions.
6. Manpower & Shift Management
Allocate manpower effectively across shifts and machines.
Guide, train, and supervise operators and helpers.
Monitor attendance, punctuality, and productivity.
Support skill development and on-the-job training.
7. Maintenance & Breakdown Coordination
Coordinate with Maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
Ensure timely reporting of equipment issues.
Support root cause analysis for recurring breakdowns.
Ensure machine readiness before shift handover.
8. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare and submit shift production reports, WIP status, downtime reports.
Maintain records of raw material consumption and yield.
Participate in daily review meetings.
Support audits and inspections.

Qualifications & Experience
Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical / Mechanical / Production Engineering
Experience:
2–5 years for Supervisor role
5–8 years for Shift In-Charge role
Experience in chemical / process / manufacturing industry preferred
Skills & Competencies
Strong shop-floor and people management skills
Understanding of PPC, WIP, and production planning
Knowledge of SOPs, BMRs, and safety practices
Good coordination and communication skills
Basic computer skills (ERP / Excel / Production MIS)
Authority & Responsibility
Authority to manage shift operations and manpower allocation
Responsibility for safety, quality, and output during assigned shift
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
