Job Description
The Production Supervisors provide strong front-line leadership to coworkers engaged in the foundry operations to ensure completion of production orders in an orderly and timely manner and to encourage, develop, and instill accountability to those under their responsibility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Directly supervise coworkers on any of the three shifts in the Machine Shop or Foundry.
Work cross-functionally amongst peers and across departments to achieve targets and objectives.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable MOL regulations, including but not limited to training; daily communication and floor presence; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining coworkers; addressing complaints and resolving issues; ensuring desired housekeeping and associated organization
Support continuous improvement of workplace culture through coaching team members, facilitating team activities, developing mutual respect and teamwork, and supporting employees to maximize their potential.
Study production schedules to plan and assign work for employees to meet production requirements.
Responsible for reporting on the production plan, daily shift activities, production and scrap, weekly overtime, and time and attendance.
Oversee processes related to mold, melt, castings, sand control and testing, core making and metallurgical analysis of metals.
Make recommendations and be involved or lead in the implementation of initiatives to improve production methods, department efficiency, scrap reduction, equipment, performance, safety and product quality supported by the application of root cause analysis.
Ensure department quality checks are completed properly including observation and gauging of work within the production process to ensure standards are met and issues highlighted
Support 5S initiatives as one of the foundational pillars for operational success.
Responsible for overall department quality including foundry audits, observation and scrap reduction.
Monitor, analyze and address issues related to machine downtime, productivity and employee performance.
Make recommendations regarding labour utilization and hiring.
Establish and meet annual goals in conjunction with production manager.
