The New Zealand Customs Service is seeking a highly organised and proactive Project Coordinator to support the delivery of the eGate Replacement Project—a strategic initiative upgrading biometric technology across New Zealand's international airports.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced project coordinator to support a busy team and contribute to a high-impact programme.

You'll be part of a dynamic, collaborative team driving a foundational upgrade to New Zealand's border infrastructure. The role offers variety, challenge, and the chance to make a meaningful contribution to national security and digital transformation. This is a full-time fixed term position until June 2027.
Your responsibilities in this role will include:
Coordinating meetings, workshops, and governance sessions
Managing project documentation, registers, and communications
Supporting travel bookings and deployment logistics
Assisting with financial administration, including purchase orders and invoices
Liaising with stakeholders, suppliers, and other agencies
Providing governance and software access support

We are seeking applications from skilled and experienced project coordinators who can demonstrate the required expertise. Our ideal candidate will bring:
Proven experience in project or programme support
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Confidence using project tools and systems
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
Sound judgement and professionalism in handling sensitive information
A relevant qualification in business administration or project coordination is desirable

To work for the New Zealand Customs Service, you must meet all the following requirements:
Be a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident.
Have resided continuously in New Zealand for the last 5 years.
Successful applicants are also required to pass a drug test and have a clear Police record.
If you are a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided in New Zealand for the last 5 years but have been absent from New Zealand for periods of 6-9 months within the past five years, preferably in one or more of the following countries: either Australia, Canada, UK or the USA then you will be required to provide overseas Police certificates for these periods spent outside of New Zealand.
