About the Job
We are seeking a Property Accounting Associate to join our team. This role supports the property management teams of the Menkes Rentals Management division, focusing on generating accurate and timely reporting for an assigned portfolio of rental units.
This is an in-person role that will be based at our Head Office in North York.

Accountabilities
Prepare and generate monthly financial reporting packages for assigned properties and entities.
Book month-end accruals and reconcile balance sheet accounts, e.g. Prepaids.
Validate and upload monthly G/L activity for assigned properties into JDE.
Process chargebacks and management fee payouts.
Record monthly property management fees for all individual residential units under management.
Assist in preparing monthly owner distribution reporting, adjusting for future cash requirements as needed, for review and approval by Senior Management.
Assist with calculating monthly withholding taxes for non-resident owners and ensuring required documentation is obtained and on file.
Work closely with the A/P & A/R Representative to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and payments are processed with required backup and on-time.
Perform A/P and A/R functions in the ERP system including EFT transfers to owners (management, leasebacks, family units).
Support the A/P & A/R Representative in identifying and notifying Property Management of NSF charges and posting fees.
Account for leaseback programs in effect, when applicable, reporting on the results of the program to Senior Management and invoice/remit payment to the developer on a monthly basis.
Educational Background
Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree.
Designations
Working towards an Accounting designation is an asset.
Prior Experience
3+ years of experience in the property management accounting field.
Preference will be given to those candidates with hands-on experience working with JDE.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft products (MS Word and Excel).
Competencies
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in writing and verbally.
Superior interpersonal and customer service skills.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft products (MS Word and Excel).
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
