The Opportunity
We are looking for a Psychiatrist to join our Mental Health team at CUPS. You will be integral within the dynamic mental health programs at CUPS, and work in close collaboration with CUPS primary health care providers and other health program staff. As part of the CUPS Mental Health program team, you will provide service to patients across a broad spectrum of mental health conditions, including but not limited to: mood and anxiety disorders, trauma disorders, psychotic disorders and substance use disorders.
As part of an inter-professional team, you will work with Mental Health Counsellors and other clinicians and care teams to provide holistic care to CUPS clients. You will also work within CUPS trauma-informed and integrated care service, delivery models.
Location: Onsite, CUPS - 1001 10 Ave SW, Calgary
Reports to: Medical Director, Director of Health
Contract type: Permanent
Schedule: Flexible between 0.2 – 0.6 FTE per week within CUPS standard operating hours, Monday to Friday, 8AM – 4PM
Starting hourly rate: $253 per hour
Key Responsibilities
Create an approachable, caring and trauma-informed environment for clients, guests and colleagues.
Provide the highest quality care and professional knowledge in mental health assessment and treatment.
Act as warden for client dignity by ensuring confidential client information is handled with the utmost care and respect in alignment with HIPA and CUPS privacy protocols & values.
Provide psychiatric services to clients both in-person and remotely, hours flexible to meet client needs.
Maintenance of applicable professional regulatory body’s ethics, competency and developmental standards.
Create, maintain and update records, including progress notes, consent forms, assessments and all other documentation required, including shadow billing requirements for the clinical alternative relationship plan (ARP).
Facilitate a healthy and safe work environment through learning and enacting all CUPS health and safety protocols, while maintaining an active awareness of clients and colleagues.
Develop collaborative relationships with CUPS Mental Health team, Clinicians and wider Health staff.
Provide caring, reliable, trauma-informed care to all clients accessing CUPS to reduce barriers to service and increase community trust.
Share experience and knowledge with students, volunteers and guests interested in CUPS services.
Employment Requirements
Doctor of Medicine (MD) with specialist certification (FRCPC) in Psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or equivalent.
Hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
