Dunedin City Council is seeking an Alcohol, Psychoactive Drugs & Gambling Advisor / DLC Secretary to lead and coordinate our ******* licensing processes, oversee gambling compliance, and manage the City Safety Project.

The Opportunity

Are you passionate about community wellbeing, public safety, and regulatory excellence? This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on public health and safety while shaping policy and fostering strong community relationships.

In this fixed-term (2 years) position, you'll be at the forefront of implementing the Sale and Supply of ******* Act and the Gambling Act 2003, while also driving initiatives that reduce alcohol-related harm and enhance city safety. You'll work closely with internal teams, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders to ensure a proactive, collaborative, and customer-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Compliance

Coordinate ******* licensing processes in line with legislative requirements.
Implement Council directives under the Local ******* Policy.
Fulfil Council responsibilities under the Gambling Act 2003.
Customer Service

Provide expert advice and support to ******* licensing clients.
Ensure District Licensing Committee (DLC) services are accessible, efficient, and aligned with economic development goals.
Policy & Advice

Develop educational materials and make available to stakeholders.
Stay informed on trends in alcohol, gambling, and community safety.
Communication & Collaboration

Foster strong working relationships with the DLC, regulatory agencies, Police, and community groups.
Maintain effective communication with media and internal departments.
