Job Description
PYP Music Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality music education to students. The teacher will be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating the music curriculum, developing lesson plans and assessments that align with the IB PYP Music program, and ensuring that students have access to a wide range of musical experiences. The teacher will also be responsible for organizing and coordinating music events and performances both within and outside of the school.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement an IB-PYP aligned music curriculum for students at all levels.
• Plan and deliver engaging and interactive music lessons that develop students' knowledge, skills, and understanding of various musical genres and cultures.
• Create and implement effective assessments that accurately measure student learning and progress.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the needs of diverse learners.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate music into interdisciplinary projects and programs.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and performance in music.
• Plan and coordinate music events, concerts, and performances both within and outside of the school.
• Stay up-to-date with developments and trends in music education and incorporate them into teaching practice as appropriate.
• Contribute to the broader life of the school through participation in committees, clubs, and other activities as appropriate.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Education or a related field.
• Teaching certification and/or relevant teaching experience.
• Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and performance.
• Familiarity with the IB Music program and its requirements.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons to students at all levels.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff.
Working Conditions
The PYP Music Teacher will work in a school environment, typically in a classroom or music room setting. The position may require some evening or weekend work to prepare for music events and performances. The teacher will be responsible for supervising students during music classes and rehearsals, and ensuring that equipment and instruments are maintained and stored properly. The teacher will report to the school's Music Department Head or other designated supervisor.
