About The Role

Showbie is looking for a QA Automation Tester to join our Socrative product team. This position is for a temporary 8 month position covering a maternity leave on the team. In this role you will work closely with an empowered and highly collaborative team of software developers, designers, and a product manager. Delivering a world-class product and providing the best possible experience for teachers and students are among our highest priorities as a company. As our team and products grow, we’re looking for someone with the enthusiasm and ability to deliver high-quality products for teachers and students on any device.

What You'll Do

Partner closely with developers and stakeholders to ensure quality is a part of every stage of the development lifecycle.
Design, execute, and maintain automated test suites that are reliable, scalable, and efficient.

Automated test development using tools like RestAssured, Selenium, TestNG, and Cucumber.
Test management systems (preferably Jira and Xray).
Scripting and programming in Java and Python.
Working knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
Experience with RESTful APIs and web services testing.
CI/CD systems, especially Jenkins, for automated builds and test execution.
A user-first mindset and a strong sense of ownership.
Ability to communicate clearly and work cross-functionally with global teams.
Nice to Have:

Experience in EdTech or similarly regulated industries.
Exposure to mobile app testing (iOS, Android).
Experience with automated mobile testing (Appium).
Knowledge of performance or security testing tools.

The autonomy to make decisions and execute them. We’re growing, but we’re a small team. Everything you do makes a difference and your input will always be celebrated.
Transparency. You will always be kept up to date on the company strategy through monthly town halls.
If you're in the Edmonton area, we have a beautiful comfy office located in central downtown Edmonton (close to great restaurants, cafes, and public transit).
We offer a flexible work environment. Work from the office, or from home, or any combination of the two. Because sometimes you do your best work in your slippers.
We value work-life balance. When we're at work we're excited and focused on building a great product. We also know that going “home” (or simply closing your laptop) and not working weekends or Holidays makes us even more excited to come to work and do great things.
While we take government holidays off, if they aren't ones that align with your personal or cultural beliefs, we have a swapping program that ensures you get the days that work best for you.
Casual afternoon socials, monthly team events, hackathons, awesome Holiday parties, and a team that actually likes to hang out with one another.
Generous flex time and time off during December Holidays.
