Job Description
Scope: Based at our Mississauga facility, this role is part of the Quality Control team and will be responsible for managing multiple ongoing tasks that contribute to ensuring the safety and quality of both raw materials and finished products. The role involves close collaboration with various departments including Manufacturing, Sanitation, Shipping & Receiving, Purchasing, Customer Service, R&D, Regulatory, and Sales.
Perform Pre-Operational (Pre-Op) inspections and cleaning verifications (Visual, ATP, Allergen testing)
Conduct environmental monitoring to ensure compliance with sanitation and microbiological standards
Act as the primary point of contact for third-party laboratories: send samples, track results, and address issues
Test to positively release manufactured products according to product parameters and create the related certificates of analysis (COA’s)
Test to positively release incoming bulk materials, such as vegetable oils, lecithin, white mineral oil, sweeteners, and create the related lot numbers and COA’s.
Leverage the ERP system to update product release status and record testing results accurately.
Log and assist with investigation of internal non-conformances
Determine disposition of ON HOLD materials, product rework, and support shelf life extension initiatives
Support shipping department by providing the COA with delivery of product as per customer requests
Conduct new and alternate ingredient evaluations; validate conformance to existing product specifications of new raw material suppliers
Support shop floor QA monitoring of sanitation programs, production records, pest control, incoming shipments
Aid in the implementation of HACCP and GMP programs and procedures
Develop, revise, and validate SOPs related to the role
Support GLP’s for equipment calibration, record keeping, lab supplies (chemical and reagents), etc.
Maintain lab and working areas clean, organized, stocked with supplies as required
Complete all others duties as assigned
Comply with all company policies
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Science Degree or Diploma (Food Science an asset)
Working experience with Food Quality and Safety (Including HACCP) Programs and Food Plant GMP’s
Minimum 2 years working experience in a Food Manufacturing or Quality Lab
Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills
Must be able manage multiple priorities and deliver results within expected timeliness
Strong attention to detail, computer skills.
Must be self-motivated to work with minimal supervision

Pay: $45,000.00-$48,000.00 per year
