Job Description:
As an English Teacher you will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality lessons in English Language and Literature to students at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, or Key Stage 5. You will be expected to create a stimulating learning environment that encourages students to engage critically with texts and develop their writing, reading, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, teach, and assess English lessons for Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, or Key Stage 5 students, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
• Develop students' skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, with a focus on both literary and language proficiency.
• Encourage a passion for literature and creative writing, fostering critical thinking and independent learning.
• Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback.
• Prepare students for internal and external exams, including GCSEs and A-Levels.
• Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of a range of abilities and provide appropriate support for all learners.
• Participate in departmental meetings and collaborate with colleagues to develop and improve the curriculum.
• Contribute to extracurricular activities related to English, such as book clubs, drama productions, or writing competitions.
• Uphold a positive classroom culture that promotes inclusivity, respect, and engagement.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• A degree in English, English Literature, or a related subject.
• Strong knowledge of the English curriculum at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, or Key Stage 5.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• A passion for teaching and a genuine enthusiasm for literature and language.
• Experience teaching English at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, or Key Stage 5 is desirable.
• Ability to inspire and engage students with varying abilities and learning styles.
Desirable Attributes:
• Experience teaching GCSE or A-Level English Literature and/or Language.
• Familiarity with the latest teaching strategies and technologies.
• A creative and flexible approach to teaching.
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues.
