This post holder will be based at King’s College Hospital Denmark Hill site and will take the lead for performing key tasks required for the monitoring and maintenance of the Quality Management System under the direction of the Quality Managers (QMs), with direct line management via the Quality Lead for Stem Cell Transplant & CAR T.

The Post holder will:
Support the development and maintenance of a Quality Management System including Standard Operating Procedures, training and education of staff, adverse incident and non-compliance and records management and quality and clinical audits within the Department of Haematological Medicine.
Support the development and implementation of the Quality Management System (QPulse) in the Department
Provide training in Quality Management to all staff within the Department of Haematological Medicine
Contribute to service improvement projects and developments within the Department.
Support staff training and development in regulatory and accreditation schemes to ensure that the Department meets all necessary regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Support the Senior Management Team in ensuring continual improvement and regulatory and accreditation compliance requirements.

Divisional management

Attend and participate in, departmental meetings, processes, decision making and local policy formulation at all clinical sites for the Department of Haematological Medicine
Contribute to departmental service developments supported by evidence-based practice
Assist in implementing Trust and Departmental policies and procedures including Health and Safety and service-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Motivate staff to meet specified standards of performance in relation to their role.

Communication & Representation

Support Quality Managers in providing effective communication within the department relating to Quality Management and service improvement as well as any departmental process changes and developments
Support the development and implementation of local monitoring systems and tools to ensure Departmental compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements and participate fully in assessment and scrutiny processes.
Support the effective integration of Quality Management across the Department of Haematological Medicine at all clinical sites.
Prioritise and plan workload and communicate own work priorities within the team. Demonstrate flexibility in carrying out own work priorities within the team context
Support Departmental governance, risk and quality committees meetings by providing effective communication between the Senior Management Team and all relevant personnel within departmental units.

Quality Management

Support and maintain an internal clinical and quality audit system across the Department of Haematological Medicine. This will include active participation in the scheduling, planning, execution and documentation of quality and clinical audits.
Support the Department in reviewing and developing evidence-based working practice and continuous quality improvement projects.
Ensure work performed in the Department meets required standards, relevant statutory requirements for good clinical governance, risk management and the requirements of external bodies.
Educate and train staff in quality principles and practice, ensuring that staff know and understand relevant standards, the departmental quality policy and quality objectives and the part they are required to play in the maintenance of the Quality Management System.
Assist in implementing and reviewing the documentation required to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
Assess, initiate and monitor appropriate action when a situation may cause service delivery failure
Support Quality Managers in ensuring that all controlled documentation, including SOPs, are reviewed and revised on a regular basis
Support the Clinical team in problem solving for issues relevant to departmental services
Recommend and implement quality improvements
Support Quality Managers in managing and implementing changes

Governance

Support the Quality team & Clinical Governance Lead for Haematology by attending the Haematology Clinical Governance Committee, representing and reporting on issues relating to departments across the Division and assisting with the preparation of agendas, minutes and documents for this and other Quality meetings. Prepare information required to meet ongoing clinical governance issues.
Support and assist the Senior Management Team and the Patient Safety & Risk Manager for Clinical Haematology to investigate non-compliances to determine root cause(s). Ensure that effective immediate and follow-up actions are undertaken by appropriate personnel to prevent re-occurrence as required.
Assist in the management of risk assessments to prevent occurrence of accidents, incidents and other non-compliances.
Monitor that staff involved in adverse incidents, complaints or claims receive appropriate support and take appropriate action to address identified concerns

Information Systems and Data Management

Comply with local and national policies for the safe, secure and confidential processing and storage of patient and other service information
Develop and maintain a range of IT skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations and any other relevant software
Assist in ensuring that records are kept up to date and stored securely to ensure compliance with good practices required all applicable standards.
Contribute to developing systems and processes for recording and storing information
Analyse and present quality management data including adverse incident outcomes, actions and trends; audit non-compliances and corrective actions.
General

The post holder has a general duty of care for their own health, safety and wellbeing and that of work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital, in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with this post.
