Global Power Technologies (GPT) is the world’s leading manufacturer and distributor of Thermoelectric Generators (TEG’s) and a leading supplier of Remote Power Systems. The Company’s products are used extensively in the oil and gas industry as well as for telecommunications, security and surveillance and military applications. With sales into 50 countries, GPT has been providing reliable solutions for critical remote power applications around the world since 1975.

We are looking for a knowledgeable and dependable Quality Specialist to work with both our Calgary and Bassano production teams.

Job Purpose

This position will be responsible for ensuring that Quality Management Systems, processes, documentation and skilled staff deliver a quality product and results to our customers and key stakeholders world-wide.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

1. Quality Leadership & Strategic Alignment

Provide Quality Assurance support to production staff, supervisors, and management.
Collaborate with Operations to develop and implement a QA/QC program aligned with company strategy, performance goals, and culture.
Proactively identify, assess, mitigate, and report quality risks and opportunities.
Support QA/QC requirements effectively across projects and production priorities.
Support and promote GPT’s culture, values, and business objectives through quality leadership.
2. Quality Management System (ISO 9001) Oversight

Maintain and continuously improve GPT’s ISO 9001–compliant Quality Management System.
Ensure processes, procedures, and work instructions are documented, controlled, and properly implemented.
Manage document control, revision updates, and record retention.
Provide quality performance data and reports for management review.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal quality requirements.
3. Production Quality Control & Monitoring

Audit and inspect production activities and monitor work-in-progress.
Ensure conformity to drawings, specifications, and approved procedures.
Recommend and implement preventative measures to maintain product quality.
Support internal and external customer quality requirements and documentation requests.
Address production quality concerns in real time and provide corrective guidance.
4. Non-Conformance & Corrective Action Management (NCR / CAR)

Create, review, and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Administer and maintain the NCR and Corrective Action (CAR) database.
Lead structured root cause analysis investigations.
Identify issues, implement corrective and preventive actions, and monitor effectiveness.
Analyze trends and report recurring quality issues to leadership.
5. Audit Management & Compliance

Prepare, organize, and facilitate internal audits.
Coordinate and support external certification and customer audits.
Track audit findings and ensure timely corrective action closure.
Maintain audit documentation and compliance records.
6. Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Build and maintain quality KPIs, dashboards, and reporting tools.
Enter and maintain accurate data, complete reports, and preserve quality records.
Identify process inefficiencies and drive measurable improvements.
Support lean manufacturing initiatives and operational excellence efforts.
7. Training & Competency Development

Provide QC training to employees as required.
Deliver structured onboarding training for new hires on:
Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
NCR and CAR database processes
Maintain training and competency records in accordance with ISO requirements.
Promote quality awareness across all levels of the organization.
Qualifications

Working knowledge of QA/QC processes and systems, preferably in an equipment manufacturing or operations settings.
1-3 years experience and/or in combination with a degree/diploma in a relevant discipline.
ISO 9001 QMS experience.
Understanding of lean manufacturing.
Continuous improvement mindset with ability to identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements.
Ability to show good judgement, flexibility, results-oriented, able to work with minimal supervision.
Manage and adjust priorities and react adequately to unforeseen events in a fast-paced environment.
Possess leadership skills, active listening and ease with interpersonal relationships.
Internal audit experience is an asset.
