Field testing of concrete and grout on delivery
Field testing of compaction for soil and granular placements using Nuclear Density Gauges
Field testing of compaction for asphalt paving using Nuclear Density Gauges
Extracting concrete and asphalt core samples from structures and pavements
Furnishing Employer and Owner supplied forms on a daily basis for the work done and submitting to the clients and the supervisor duly
Sampling, transporting, delivering test samples to designated testing laboratories
Performing all other tasks directly or indirectly involved with the Quality Control Services provided by the Company as assigned by the supervisor time to time
Reporting to the supervisor on a daily basis on the status of all assigned tasks and related site activities
Maintaining all assigned equipment (permanent and temporary) in good condition at all times
Must prepare reports with accurate information for prompt submission to clients
Education:
Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering discipline (e.g. Diploma level)
Work Experience:
Minimum 1 year in Construction Material Testing is an asset
Minimum 1 year in construction related work is an asset
Mandatory Certifications/Licensure (Technical)*:
CCIL/ACI - Field Concrete Testing Technician
Radiation Safety & TDG (Class 7 Radioactive Materials in Type A Packages)
* Prospective recruits will have to participate in a 3-4 weeks unpaid preparation program to obtain the relevant certifications, especially if recruits do not have CCIL certification. Fees associated with those certifications are to be borne by the respective candidates.
Other Mandatory Requirements:
Ontario G or G2 Driving Licence or equivalent with at least 1 year highway driving experience
MUST have a personal vehicle for field work use, with appropriate automobile coverage for industrial use (Mileage will be paid per km)
Skills & Abilities:
Math skills (statistical analysis is a key requirement)
Proficient skills with computers and technology
Proficient use of MS Office suite
Capable of working outdoor under harsh weather conditions (very cold, very hot etc.)
Willing to work various shifts including weekends and nights
Capable of lifting approx. 30kg of weight briefly (for very short distances) to load, unload, mobilize etc. equipment and samples for testing
Capable of standing for longer hours
Capable of effectively communicating in English
Pro-activeness and critical thinking qualities
Wage:
Wage - $18.00/hr to $22.00/hr (based on required certifications and testing experience the candidate has)
