About the Role
The Social Media & Operations Administrator supports the AFL British Columbia (AFLBC) Volunteer Board by contributing to league operations, communications, and social media presence. This role offers hands-on experience in community sport administration, making it an excellent opportunity for a young professional interested in sport development, social media, and organizational operations.
The Administrator will assist with game day and league activities, contribute to the growth of the sport, and play a key role in building and managing AFLBC’s social media presence. The role also provides opportunities for professional development, including participation in AFLBC Board meetings and networking with clubs and community stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
League Operations
Attend monthly AFLBC Board meetings.
Support game day operations to ensure smooth execution of schedules and match logistics.
Assist in planning tournaments, events, and other league initiatives.
Contribute to League Development activities as assigned.
Provide general operational support to the league and member clubs.
Social Media
Create engaging content on game days, including basic sports photography.
Manage AFLBC social media accounts and contribute to social media strategies.
Develop digital marketing plans and social media content for developing or start-up clubs across BC.
Build and update basic websites for AFLBC and member clubs (WordPress).
Requirements
Currently enrolled in or completed post-secondary education.
Valid BC driver’s license (or legal equivalent).
Ideal Candidate
A successful candidate will be:
Enthusiastic about working as part of a team.
Interested in sports, athletics, and community-based organizations.
Curious about the governance and operations of non-profit sport associations.
Skilled or experienced in social media content creation (experience with tools such as Canva is an asset).
Interested in sports photography (experience welcome but not required).
Familiarity with Australian Rules Football is an asset—but not required.
