Position Summary:
The Guest Attendant plays a vital support role in maintaining the smooth operation of the recreational sports centre by assisting with guest services, light cleaning duties, court bookings, and monitoring safety within the facility. The Guest Attendant will be the first point of contact for guests when the program organizer’s guests are on-site and is expected to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all facility visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Interaction & Support:
Ensure waivers are completed and signed by all guests before using the facilities.
Confirm court bookings via the digital booking system, ensuring all guests are scheduled appropriately.
Check-in clients upon arrival and verify that they have reserved the correct court and time slot.
Maintain communication with the program organizers and report any incidents or issues with guest behavior, injuries, conflicts, or illegal activities promptly to both program director and supervisor.
Handle customer concerns by documenting details and promptly forwarding them to the immediate supervisor for resolution.
Cleaning & Maintenance Duties:
Perform light cleaning tasks, including wiping down tables, high-traffic doors and windows, wiping all handles and high touch points during busy periods.
Ensure public areas such as bathrooms and change rooms remain clean, including monitoring for overflowing garbage bins or water spills on the floor. Ensure wet floor signs are in use whenever there is a potential for slip hazards, until it is cleaned up properly.
Report any cleaning or maintenance issues that cannot be resolved immediately to the Facility Operations team.
Court Bookings & Facility Access:
Ensure that only guests with confirmed bookings are permitted to use the courts. Deny access to anyone without a reservation.
Maintain a clean and organized environment in the courts and surrounding areas.
Assist with checking in guests for specific programs when necessary, following up on their bookings and guiding them to the correct court.
Safety & Security:
Conduct routine parking lot sweeps to ensure that guests are parking in designated areas and report any issues to Calgary Bylaw Enforcement.
Ensure patrons are in designated smoking areas and away from doorways.
Participate in the Emergency Response Planning (ERP) sessions and ensure all safety protocols are followed, including responding to emergencies like fires or power outages.
Maintain a heightened awareness of security risks and report any incidents or concerns immediately to supervisors.
Teamwork & Reporting:
Work as part of a team alongside management, custodians, and other program staff to ensure a smooth operation.
Maintain a digital daily log journal, documenting shift activities, incidents, injuries, maintenance issues, and any other relevant information.
Report any significant concerns or incidents to the supervisor or facility management immediately.
Qualifications:
Education/Certifications:
Valid First Aid and CPR certification (mandatory).
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience in customer service is required.
Experience in a sports-related environment is preferred.

Basic knowledge of facility maintenance and cleaning procedures.
Comfortable using digital systems for booking and check-in purposes.
Ability to handle difficult or potentially unsafe situations with a calm and focused approach.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform light cleaning tasks and walk the facility frequently throughout the shift.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
The position is based at a recreational sports facility and may require standing or walking for extended periods.
The environment may include exposure to various weather conditions when performing parking lot sweeps or other outdoor duties.
Occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds may be required (e.g., moving light cleaning supplies or maintenance items).
Additional Information:
Must be available to work on weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
This role may involve working independently during certain shifts and collaborating with other staff members during peak times.
