Job Title: Registered Nurse
Reports to: Medical Director and Nurse Lead
Job Purpose: To provide nursing service and specifically Ketamine and Lidocaine administration
Salary: Match to the BCNU pay grade
Summary:
Performing related nursing duties and reporting to the Nurse lead. Responsible for all related responsibilities of initiating Intravenous Ketamine and Lidocaine infusion, monitoring the patient's response to treatment and side effects. Assisting physicians in different types of procedures, i.e. Radiofrequency lesioning. Post-procedure patient monitoring and discharge home instruction. Responsible for responding to all medical emergencies at the clinic and performing complete nursing duties in corresponding situations.
Job Description:
Administer ketamine and lidocaine IV infusions
Assist with ultrasound-guided procedures such as Radio Frequency Lesioning in a clinic setting.
Monitor patients pre- and post-infusion, following program protocols.
Complete documentation per clinic policies, CRNBC standards, and accreditation requirements.
Provide patient education on treatments and protocols, individually or in groups.
Report on adverse events and product complaints per clinic training and policies.
Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., physicians, case managers, scheduling) to coordinate appointments and treatments.
Participate in team meetings and training sessions to maintain professional standards.
Adhere to CRNBC professional nursing standards and clinic standard operating procedures.
Follow health and safety standards as per the provincial Health and Safety Act.
Complete required ongoing and annual education within specified timeframes.
Be available on-call or for standby duties as needed to meet service demands.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Registered Nurse with valid ACLS and BLS certifications.
Currently, an unrestricted RN license from the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) is required.
Formal Critical Care training or 5 years relevant experience in PACU or critical care settings
Experienced in Intravenous access initiation
Intermediate knowledge and skills in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent customer service and communication skills (written and verbal) for interactions with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Self-directed with the ability to work independently.
