The Department of Psychiatry in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Coordinator. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

The position reports to the Principal Investigator with support from a senior leadership team member. The study includes liaising and working closely with government agencies, community agencies, healthcare providers, and service users to evaluate mental health program outcomes using qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The focus of this position is to support the ongoing research and administrative needs of the Principal Investigator.

This position will be based out of the Mathison Centre for Mental Health Research and Education at the University of Calgary - Foothills Campus, and also involves working with government and community-based non-profit agencies across the province. The Research Coordinator is expected to work during normal business hours, however, there may be occasional work on evenings and weekends. This position may require travel to community sites across the province. Successful candidate must be able to travel within Alberta.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Support and coordinate various research functions within the project, which may include generating research materials, recruiting and consenting participants, community engagement, research analysis, report writing and assisting with other activities within the scope of the project
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the research including recruiting, obtaining informed consent, data collection, data entry, data analysis, ethics submissions, revisions, and annual approvals, and appropriate and timely follow-up for research studies
Collaborate with the study investigators to perform and complete relevant parts of the study, including obtaining signatures, discussing emerging questions, review research results, etc.
Develop research documents including informed consent forms, source document worksheets, participant tracking, interview guides
Document internal processes, interpret findings, and contribute to scientific reporting and manuscripts for publication
Maintain research files with attention to version control and maintain research databases with timely data entry
Plan community engagement events with all levels of research partners, from government agencies to community agencies and non-profits
Assist in scheduling, facilitating, and maintaining records for ongoing research team meetings with all stakeholders
Coordinate and schedule research visits according to study procedures and ethics compliance
Qualifications / Requirements:

Master's degree in social sciences, psychology or related discipline (bachelor's degree with sufficient experience will be considered)
At least 3 years of experience conducting research in social, behavioural or clinical settings, preferably in research specific to youth populations
Demonstrated experience in qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods analytic approaches Demonstrated experience working with children, youth, and families
Demonstrated experience liaising and working with internal and external research partners, such as governments, agencies, and non-profits
Strong understanding of ethics guidelines for conducting research
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Collaborative approach and team-oriented mindset
Exceptional attention-to-detail, especially when working with research data
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with transcription, coding, analysis, and interpretation of qualitative interview or focus group data is an asset
Experience facilitating focus groups is an asset
Demonstrated skills with data collection software is an asset (e.g. NVivo, SPSS, REDCap, Qualtrics)
Knowledge translation and exchange experience is an asset
A valid Class 5 Driver's license with proven good driving record (abstract required) and ability to use own personal vehicle for travel is required
