Your next career opportunity
You will lead fabrication and testing of advanced photovoltaic devices within ACAP’s dynamic, nationally networked research program. You will collaborate closely with chemists and engineers to optimise device architectures and explore novel PV materials. You will also mentor emerging researchers and develop your own funding proposals aligned with ultra low-cost solar .

What you will deliver:

Design, fabricate and test cutting-edge photovoltaic devices using glovebox, cleanroom and specialist characterisation facilities.

Investigate novel PV materials and device structures, generating publishable insights aligned with ACAP research priorities.

Lead day-to-day operation, maintenance and safety compliance of ACAP device fabrication and testing laboratories.

Supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate researchers, including second-supervising PhD projects within the research group.

Prepare progress reports, journal publications and presentations, and engage regularly with ACAP partners and collaborators .

You may be a great fit if :

Hold a PhD in physical chemistry, experimental physics or electronic device engineering, or an equivalent qualification.

Bring hands-on experience in photovoltaic device fabrication and testing, including working safely in glovebox environments.

Operate confidently within cleanroom or device fabrication facilities, following rigorous safety, maintenance and risk assessment procedures.

Demonstrate a strong publication record and excellent written and oral communication for journal articles and presentations.

Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, engaging with partners across chemistry, engineering and national ACAP institutions.

Show initiative in developing new research ideas, securing competitive funding and supervising emerging researchers in the laboratory .

Your new team – School of Chemistry
You will join the School of Chemistry within the Faculty of Science, a collegial, research-intensive environment. As part of ACAP’s Melbourne node, you will collaborate nationally to advance ultra low-cost solar technologies. You will work closely with chemists and electrical engineers, accessing world-class laboratories, cleanroom facilities and characterisation equipment.
