Are you a technically proficient Engineer or Risk Engineer who enjoys applying engineering judgment to help underwriters and claims teams make informed, profitable decisions? Do you take pride in clear communication, practical problem‑solving, and delivering thorough risk assessments both remotely and on-site?


We’re looking for a Risk Engineer to provide expert technical support across the Casualty line of business. Working under general supervision, you’ll plan, organise and carry out desk reviews and on-site risk engineering surveys to analyse and evaluate exposures of varying complexity.

Key responsibilities?
Some responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Plans, organises and performs desk-based risk appraisals for the Casualty line of business to provide risk analysis information to Underwriters. The risk appraisal process includes analysis of 3rd party exposures associated with a risk and comment on adequacy of mitigation measures.
Conducts on-site risk engineering surveys for existing and prospective Clients, as required by Underwriters. Produces either a brief summary report or a detailed risk engineering survey report for predominantly internal use (Underwriters), as required by Liberty guidelines.
Provides technical input on claims including the review of claims reports and site visits to identify areas for claims mitigation and recommendations for improvement based on current risk engineering practices, policies and lessons learned. These recommendations are to be communicated to other Engineers/Underwriters and will provide the basis for future improvements of risk engineering policies, procedures and technical resources.
Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of the Casualty line of business including operational practices, safety management systems, claims trends, legal and regulatory developments, and other related issues that may impact the underwriting decision-making process or Liberty profitability. The job holder is required to actively pursue continued professional development in order to develop and maintain knowledge in these areas.
Participates in business development and marketing activities for the Casualty line of business
Working closely with claims department, Underwriters and all other key internal stakeholders to promote Liberty’s “integrated business unit approach” and ensure seamless delivery of risk engineering services.
Providing input into the financial and strategic planning process relative to the product line.

About you

Previous relevant experience in an aligned role with a background in one of the following areas in a managerial, technical or consultancy role: Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, Loss Prevention, Construction, Risk Management or Project Management.
Excellent working knowledge of PC based systems and applications such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems for managing contacts, schedules and calendars is required.
Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline, such as Chemical, Process, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
