About the Role
The Roofer will be responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining various roofing systems, including metal roofing, tiles, underlay, flashings, and waterproofing components. This role requires strong practical skills, safe work practices, and the ability to read and follow construction plans.
Key Responsibilities
Install and align fascia boards to establish a stable structural base for subsequent roofing work.
Lay and secure wire mesh or bird-proofing mesh, welding or joining sections where required to meet design specifications.
Position and firmly fix metal roofing sheets or iron panels to the roof frame in accordance with construction drawings and manufacturer guidelines.
Install roofing underlay and lay tiles or metal sheets over it, ensuring proper coverage and compliance with architectural plans.
Fit saddle flashings at roof penetrations, junctions, and water-risk areas to ensure effective water diversion and waterproofing.
Install large edge flashings and perimeter flashings to fully seal the roof edges against moisture and weather exposure.
Apply additional screws and fasteners across the roof system to enhance wind resistance and long-term structural stability.
Follow construction drawings and specifications to verify material requirements, installation accuracy, and proper sequencing of roofing components.
Inspect completed roofing work for secure fixing and watertight performance, addressing any defects, gaps, or loose materials.
Operate hand and power tools safely while complying with all height-safety procedures and workplace health and safety standards
