Job Title: SEND Teacher - Primary (ages 5-11)

Location: Crawley

Contract: Temporary to Permanent

Start Date: As soon as possible

Daily Rate: up to £42,000, Monday - Friday, Term time.

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate SEND Teacher to join our supportive team, teaching Primary students aged 5 - 11 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and other Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role is ideal for an individual who can inspire and engage young people, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve academic success.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning: Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across the primary curriculum, ensuring all students can access and enjoy their learning. Tailor lessons to the diverse needs of SEND pupils, fostering a love for learning in subjects like maths, literacy, and science.

Tailored Support: Understand each child's individual learning style and adapt teaching strategies to meet their specific needs. Provide one-to-one or small-group support to ensure all students can succeed.

Classroom Management: Create a positive, structured environment where students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs feel safe and supported. Use behaviour management techniques to help pupils regulate emotions and behaviour.

Monitoring Progress: Continuously assess and track student progress. Offer constructive feedback and adjust teaching as needed to promote academic and personal growth.

Collaborative Working: Work closely with teaching assistants, SEN specialists, and other staff to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s development, contributing to IEPs and other support plans.

Encouraging Engagement: Inspire pupils to actively participate in lessons, helping them express themselves and develop social and communication skills.

Candidate Qualities

Passionate Educator: Committed to working with SEND children and helping them reach their full potential across the curriculum.

Experience in SEN/SEMH Settings: Ideally with experience in supporting children with autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs in a primary school setting.

Patience and Empathy: Ability to build strong relationships with students, offering understanding and support when dealing with challenging behaviour.

Adaptability: Flexible teaching approach, able to adjust to meet the varied needs of SEND pupils.

Team Player: Effective at working collaboratively with colleagues to create a consistent, inclusive learning environment.
