Role and Responsibilities: UpEquity is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing team. Reporting to the Controller, you will be instrumental in building out our accounting function from the ground up and will have direct responsibility for key financial processes. This role offers high visibility and the chance to significantly influence our financial operations and internal controls.
We are looking for a proactive individual who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves, take
ownership of tasks, and contribute to the development of a robust and scalable
accounting department.
As a Senior Accountant, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Managing all aspects of the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
Take ownership of the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial reports, including monthly financial packages for leadership
Collaborate with the Controller to establish and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Play a key role in the annual financial audit and preparing necessary documentation
Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on key financial metrics
Stay up to date on accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field strongly preferred. CPA certification is preferred
You have 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment
You are proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and have advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.)
Prior experience using expense management platforms like Ramp and Bill.com a nice to have
You have a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
You are an excellent communicator and comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
You are a problem-solver who is proactive and eager to take on new challenges
