IAT Insurance Group has an immediate opening for a Senior Accountant from our Raleigh, NC location. A Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing and maintaining financial and business transactions, and applying accounting principles that includes work that is analytical, evaluative and advisory in nature and that requires an understanding of both accounting theory and practice. This role will be predominantly focused on the programs & homeowners business units within IAT that are produced through Managing General Agents (MGA's).
This role works a hybrid schedule from an IAT Office in Raleigh, NC. The hybrid schedule reflects our values (thinking and acting like an owner, collaboration, and teamwork) as it requires working from the office with colleagues and other disciplines Monday through Wednesday, with the option of working Thursday and Friday remotely.
Responsibilities:
Assist with negotiation and development of various contracts for finance- and reporting-related terms as necessary Work collaboratively throughout the organization to develop comprehensive reporting processes to support timely and in-depth analysis Work closely with internal and external programming and other staff to develop electronic data interfaces from third party to IAT systems in accordance with contract terms, GAAP and SAP Develop efficient & effective workflows and procedures, reconciliations & other controls, as well as analytical & reporting tools for interfaced data Manage the analysis of financial statements; report pertinent trends, issues, variances between budgeted and actual results, to management Manage monthly settlements with third parties; calculate and procure sufficient collateral as necessary Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits Managing the reconciliation of insurance accounts, including premium receivable, claims payable and reinsurance recoverable Perform other special projects as needed by management
Qualifications:
Must-Have:
Bachelors' degree in Accounting or Finance with 3 years of accounting experience or equivalent Equivalent is defined as Masters' degree with 2 years of relevant experience Demonstratable knowledge of Excel skills (Must have strong skills) Excellent verbal and written communication Thinks critically Works independently Works well under pressure Has strong attention to detail To qualify, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment purposes.
Preferred to Have:
General ledger (ERP) experience - preferably Workday Insurance or reinsurance industry experience With CPA designation Public Accounting experience
