Dick’s Lumber is seeking a skilled and detail- orientated Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Job Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee and manage day-to-day financial operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger activities and contribute to the month-end close process.
Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, intercompany accounts, and other balance sheet items, resolving discrepancies and preparing journal entries.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and schedules.
Prepare and analyze financial reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Support internal and external audits, year-end preparations, inventory counts and tax compliance, including liaising with auditors and tax authorities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support business strategies.
Document existing processes, proactively identify process improvements and efficiencies recommendations; collaborate with Controller to implement.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
3-5 years of accounting experience in corporate environment preferably in the construction or building materials industry.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or working toward is preferred.
Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of IFRS, full-cycle accounting, and financial reporting.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Proficiency with accounting software (INFOR CSD preferable), and advanced Excel skills.
Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively across different levels of the organization.
A continuous desire for improvement and the ability to manage change; the ability to find root causes and propose solutions to issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
