Job Description
The Senior Accountant will play an integral role in producing timely and reliable financial information to key stakeholders, in addition to satisfying global compliance obligations and leading various projects that contribute to the team and organization’s efficiency and effectiveness. As the Accounting & Finance team at LivingWorks continues to evolve to meet the growing demand for financial insight and analysis, the Senior Accountant bring their exceptional assurance and reporting skills, strong analytical mindset and demonstrate leadership by supporting the team as we grow our capabilities to inform data-driven decisions.
KEY OUTCOMES
Ensure integrity and accuracy of the financial statements: Maintain reliable and accurate financial information through routine review of transactions and balances, while strengthening and upholding internal controls.
Monitor and satisfy global compliance obligations: Ensure timely report filing to satisfy LivingWorks’ ongoing direct and indirect tax obligations in Canada, U.S., U.K. and Australia in addition to identifying and assessing risks of non-compliance in all jurisdictions LivingWorks operates in.
Drive efficiency and effectiveness of LivingWorks: Lead and execute projects that address key needs within Accounting & Finance and the broader organization, including implementing new technologies and improving processes to enhance efficiency and outputs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting cycles by ensuring working paper files are reviewed to an acceptable standard and producing quality and timely financial reports.
Prepare organizational and departmental budgets and variance analysis as part of regular reporting packages.
Review weekly payment runs and ensure payments are substantiated by adequate documentation and adherence to internal processes.
Document existing processes and collaborate with the A&F Manager in developing process improvements and efficiencies.
Collaborate in developing internal controls and standard operating procedures.
Ensure financial and tax obligations are met by making mandatory filings by their respective deadlines and maintaining the systems which provide the information to support these filings.
Support the A&F Manager by providing relevant inputs for routine and situational financial analysis, such as forecasting, monitoring KPIs, and capital budgeting.
Have an in-depth understanding of LivingWorks’ business and the underlying transactions we engage in, as well as an appreciation of the inter-departmental impacts of proposed changes to internal processes.
Support team members to ensure daily, monthly, and annual outcomes are achieved.
Support and review the daily activities of the accounting department, including purchase and revenue entries, and account reconciliations.
Lead various projects that are designed to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, such as the implementation of new systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
3+ years of public accounting experience.
Experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system or related accounting software package.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 – particularly Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA designation.
QuickBooks experience.
Accounting and compliance with U.S. and/or international corporations.
