Key Responsibilities
Contributes to Financial Reporting and Analysis
Prepare and maintain subsidiary financial statements including consolidation entries for the parent company. Maintains all accounting records for the subsidiaries including lease agreements, rental income reconciliation, general ledger reconciliations, common area maintenance (CAM) charges, and fixed assets/prepaids.
Prepares month end elimination entries and consolidated financial statements for the parent company, American Eagle Financial Credit Union.
Ability to analyze financial data to identify variances and provide explanations for significant fluctuations.
Responsible for ASC 842 Lease Liability and Right of Use Assets which includes monthly amortization schedules, new leases, and lease renewals. Assist with preparation of the yearly lease budget.
Reconciles AEFCU internal bill payment, account to account, and member loan payments through internal checking accounts.
Participates in Audits and the Filing of Regulatory Reports
Assist with annual internal, regulatory and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Prepare and assist with the quarterly NCUA 5300 Call Report filing.
Responsible for the bi-weekly submission of Federal and State tax withholdings. Prepare and reconcile annual form 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC. Reconcile annual form 1099-R and 1099-INT against taxes remitted. Reconcile annual backup withholding and IRA withholding forms 945 and CT-945 filings.
Prepares and files the Annual Census Survey.
Contribute to the on-going success of the Accounting Department
Stay up-to-date on industry regulations and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
Collaborate with other departments and team members to achieve financial objectives and resolve issues.
Identify and recommend opportunities to improve accounting processes and implement automation to enhance efficiency.
Assist with the implementation of annual projects in order to meet organizational goals and objectives.
Education and/or Experience
This role requires Subject Matter Expertise and the ability to provide mentorship, guidance and training to other team members. This level of expertise will generally be attained with a minimum of 5 years in a similar financial services industry role and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. Priority will be placed upon the demonstration of the ability to meet qualifications without an absolute focus on duration of experience, in recognition that the attainment may be obtained at different paces by different individuals.
