We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team and support complex accounting efforts involving federal funds and financial systems.
Position Overview:
As a Senior Accountant at GenTech Associates, you will play a critical role in managing and reviewing accounting transactions, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, resolving complex financial discrepancies, and advising on accounting procedures. This remote position is ideal for an experienced professional with at least eight years of accounting experience, including a minimum of four years in federal accounting.
While the position is fully remote, U.S. Citizenship is required, as the role requires the ability to obtain a federal security clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
Transaction Review & Reconciliation:
Review and reconcile complex financial transactions across various accounts (e.g., receivables, payables, fixed assets, etc.).
Perform monthly reconciliation of general ledger to subsidiary accounts, including journal entries and accruals.
Identify and resolve out-of-balance conditions and discrepancies.
Error Resolution & Adjustment:
Investigate and correct accounting errors, applying approved corrective actions.
Prepare and process accounting adjustments in appropriate appropriations.
Payment Processing & Analysis:
Review invoices, vouchers, and claims for compliance with federal regulations.
Address and resolve payment inquiries, recommending proper accounting treatments.
Prepare bills of collection and manage processing of refunds or overpayments.
Documentation & Audit Trail:
Ensure comprehensive documentation and audit trails for all financial transactions.
Verify accuracy and integrity of data entered into financial systems.
Technical Support & Advisory:
Provide expert guidance on accounting practices, internal controls, and budget issues.
Support the implementation of new accounting policies, procedures, and system enhancements.
Debt Collection & Suspense Transactions:
Oversee the accounting treatment of payroll deductions and debt collections.
Reconcile suspense transactions and ensure accurate recording.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (minimum 24 credit hours in Accounting).
GPA of 3.0 or higher required.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of accounting experience, including at least 4 years of federal accounting experience.
Deep familiarity with federal financial systems and regulations.
Experience working with automated financial systems and reconciliation tools.
Skills & Knowledge:
Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and federal financial management practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with government accounting systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Clearance Requirement:
U.S. Citizenship required; must be eligible to obtain a federal security clearance.
