Business Function
Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. In Group T&O, we manage the majority of the Bank's operational processes and inspire to delight our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Administer and maintain databases including MS SQL DB, MariaDB, Oracle DB and PostgreSQL for various business application
• Primary expertise should be MS SQL & Maria Database.
• Monitor database performance, capacity, backups and security.
• Expert in Backup & Recovery.
• Perform database patching, upgrades and ensure compliance with internal guidelines and external regulations
• Participate in application development projects and be responsible for the database architecture and design.
• Handle database related incidents, problems and complaints in a timely manner
• Responsible for developer SQL code review to ensure queries are optimized and tuned to perform efficiently prior to production release.
• Coordinate with internal teams on database requirements, changes, deployments and performance tuning.
• Understanding of basic database fundamentals: multi-version control, concurrency, transactions, indexing, locking.
• Analyze, recommend, and implement configuration for Optimized Performance.
• Ability to plan hardware capacity requirements for storage, memory, and CPU Cycles.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to peers on best practices for database administration and management
• Understanding of UNIX environment with shell scripting.
• Familiarity with Linux administration
• Contribute to document company database standards, guidelines, and operational procedures
• Perform a variety of tasks relying on experience and judgment to manage time, plan and accomplish goals on several client engagements
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Required Experience
• At least 6 years of experience administering SQL Server databases & Maria database.
• Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, project and personnel management skills.
• Knowledge of database security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively within a team
• Independent thinking and ability to demonstrate good judgment required
• Cloud computing experience would be an advantage
Education / Preferred Qualifications
• A degree in Computer Science or related subject is preferred
Technical Competencies
• Strong knowledge in MS SQL and Maria database, backup/recovery of database, Disaster recovery plan.
Personal skills
• Strong matrix management skills including influence, conflict resolution and negotiation
• Excellent relationship building and networking skills
