About the role

As a Senior Claims Consultant, you’ll manage a portfolio of Income Protection and disability claims, including Total Permanent Disability assessments, with a strong focus on active case management and rehabilitation outcomes. You’ll be trusted to make sound decisions within delegated authority, balancing commercial outcomes with fair conduct and customer needs.

This role is highly collaborative and externally facing. You’ll regularly engage with customers, advisers, medical specialists, rehabilitation providers and legal partners, guiding conversations with confidence and clarity while navigating complex and sensitive situations.

You’ll also play a broader role within the Claims Technical Services team, contributing to mentoring, technical feedback, and continuous improvement across claims processes and standards.

In this key role you’ll

Assess and manage complex Income Protection and disability claims, including TPD, within delegated authority

Apply active case management and rehabilitation strategies to support recovery and sustainable return-to-work outcomes

Make clear, well-reasoned claims decisions aligned with fair conduct and vulnerable customer standards

Proactively communicate with customers, advisers and providers, documenting decisions and outcomes accurately

Contribute to technical capability through mentoring, case conferencing, and feedback across the claims function

To be successful and grow in this role, you will ideally bring the following

Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Income Protection, disability, or rehabilitation claims

Strong understanding of active case management, rehabilitation principles and best practice

Proven ability to analyse complex medical, legal and financial information

Confident communicator with strong relationship-building and negotiation skills

Tech-savvy, detail-focused and comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-paced
