About the opportunity
The Senior Communications Manager is part of the team that carries responsibility for protecting and enhancing Australia Post’s reputation, which is achieved through the delivery of Australia Post’s communications strategy.


Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Communications, you will have responsibility for creating one true voice throughout internal communications and flow through some external. The Senior Communications Manager will report to and work with the Head of Enterprise Communications to develop and implement communications strategies to drive awareness and engagement to support our Customer Experience Transformation.

Critical to this role will be working collaboratively across the CXT project, enterprise communications and business communications teams. You will build effective relationships at all levels of the business and develop a deep understanding of business needs and stakeholder audiences.

You’ll be responsible for:
Helping to deliver on the Communications strategy and think about strategic initiatives that will improve communication for our team members
Developing and implementing enterprise-wide communications strategies, driving awareness and engagement to support our Customer Experience Transformation
Building trusted relationships with leaders across the entire business, prepare briefs, messaging and presentations as needed
Working with Business Unit teams to develop a deep understanding of the particular interests, agendas, issues and opportunities to work collaboratively with each of the business units
Supporting key enterprise projects and initiatives by developing and advising on communications approaches to enhance team member and stakeholder engagement
Identifying external opportunities for Executive thought leadership program and work with Media relations team
Leveraging new and existing communications channels to support strategic objectives
Investigating and distributing internal good news stories, and providing best practice strategic communication advice to engage and transform our customer and team member communications
Collaborating with the wider Communications team to ensure consistency of business messages and alignment with enterprise-wide programs

About you
As a seasoned strategic communications expert and leader you’re calm under pressure and can work through issues quickly and methodically. You are a fierce advocate for the customer and can translate complex information into easy-to-understand communications with ease. Action-oriented, organised, and driven by data you are efficient, adaptable and have a solution-focused attitude. You’re inquisitive, proactive, eager to get stuff done, and enjoy building strong relationships with team members and stakeholders across the business.

What are we looking for?

10+ years' experience as a communications professional in a large, complex, and highly regulated organisation
Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications or a related discipline in a large and complex organisation
Project management skills to ensure that large-scale programs are planned, run and evaluated efficiently and consistently
Experience in developing, executing, and evaluating communication plans and campaigns
Exceptional oral, written, and editing skills with an excellent understanding of a wide variety of communication channels and techniques, including digital communications
Natural curiosity about issues and developments about current news issues, and in the broader community socio-political environment
Highly organised and efficient, and the ability to work through ambiguity
Demonstrated leadership of teams, interpersonal, change communication and project management skills
Understanding of issues and reputational impact
