Job Description
As the Corporate Accountant, you will ensure day-to-day financial activities are executed accurately and efficiently while driving continuous improvement in processes and accounting controls.
What You'll Be Doing
Maintain and improve audit process to achieve 0 critical audit exceptions
Ensure compliance with union remittances, tax filings, and government deadlines (EHT, WSIB, Source Deductions, HST)
Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly closings and government filings
Process on-time, error-free payroll
Maintain positive monthly cash flow
Ensure accuracy in revenue and expense forecasts and support budgeting processes with insightful variance analysis
Process, review, and enter invoices accurately
Complete all general ledger and bank reconciliations and complete periodic audits
Identify bottlenecks and enhance efficiency through streamlined workflows and Lean problem-solving methods
Ensure that all financial recording is conducted according to Canadian GAAP
Oversee all construction draw receipts, submissions, payments and employee payroll
Other duties as required
What You Bring
5+ years of progressive experience in accounting
CPA designation
Accounting experience within the construction industry is an asset
Proven track record of success in financial reporting, forecasting, and process optimization
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, data analysis, financial modeling, macros/VBA, Power Query)
Proficiency in QuickBooks and ability to adapt to new accounting software
Comprehensive understanding of GAAP, corporate taxation, auditing principles, and financial reporting standards
Strong analytical thinking with a focus on delivering actionable insights
Excellent time management and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple priorities under pressure
Effective communicator, presenting complex financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders
Collaborative mindset, valuing input from peers and contributing to team success
High attention to detail with a results-oriented approach
Integrity and ethical conduct in handling confidential financial information
Passion for continuous learning, process improvement, and delivering results with resilience
